Advanced Cloaking Identity Device (ACID)
Having acquired a top-secret and mysterious supply of synthesized stygium crystals, the NIF
has once again begun to use this advanced cloaking technology from the prime days of the Old
Republic. ACID combines the effectiveness of a stygium one-way active stealth system with
the latest in sensor masking. A ship equipped with this device can become completely
invisible from almost every sensor even at short ranges, while retaining perfect targeting
capability.
However, it is still possible to locate an ACID cloaked ship when it opens fire. If nothing
else, one can triangulate incoming fire via optical sensors and computer a targeting
solution. Although this is only effective at shorter ranges. Still, an ACID equipped ship
will always get the first salvo, can withdraw safely, and may be able to hit-and-run very
effectively with minimal enemy retaliation.
ACID cloaked ships can still use sensors, weapons, and communications as normal.
