Osiris Information Analysis System
Osiris is a fully sapient computer system, hardwired into the Nemesis. It handles
information analysis for ISIS headquarters as well as strategic and tacical analyses
in battle. Its presence makes the Nemesis completely un-sliceable, since every
attempt at violating security is detected instantly, and countered if necessary.
Essentially, the computer is the ship itself. Additionally, Osiris has access to
interfaces more advanced than any before it, serving as information input and output
devices - two minidroids and a Human Replica Droid.
The Supreme Commander makes constant use of the Osiris computer via these interfaces.
For maximum security, the computer does not allow altering its files directly. It is
a one-way computer in that you cannot upload anything to it - all information going
into Osiris is purely interpreted and analysed by Osiris itself, a trait that makes
it un-sliceable. In theory one could trick the computer to accept a virus, but the
probability of success is extrmely low. Even if it happens, the system has additional
security and is self-monitoring. It can be shut down only by a hardware key, kept by
the Supreme Commander, and one other person (classified who).
The computer is also responsible for the creation and modifications of the Osiris Virus -
a computer virus designed to overtake an enemy computer system and size complete control
of it. This virus has been successfully used by the NIF on more than one occasion to
take control over enemy ships and facilities.
The Osiris anti-virus system works much like the Osiris worm, except that it is designed to
counter any foreign computer virus and adapt to defeat it. So far it has been immensely
successful in keeping the NIF secrets classified.
