The Acclamator-class is best noted for being the forerunner to the famous Imperator-class. It
entered service in the beginning of the Clone Wars. One new aspect for a capital ship was that
the Acclamator-class could move through planetary atmospheres as well as the vacuum of deep
space. This meant that separate dropships were not required, and it could deploy its troops
in under two minutes. It was also equipped with the fastest hyperdrives available. Though it
does not have the firepower to be a frontline warship in the imperial era, the Acclamator
was nevertheless distinguished as the first ship capable of carrying out a Base Delta Zero
order with its missiles - terminating all life on a planet without survivors, something
never seen in the Old Republic until the onset of the Clone Wars (Older records speak of
similar events during special cirumstances during the Sith wars). The missiles, while
powerful, take several minutes to aim and is of limited use in a battle against capital
ships.
So effective and impressive were the Acclamators that many leading shipbuilders began
incorporating similar concepts into their own fleets. Rendili Stardrive followed a few short
years later with the development of their historic Victory-class Star Destroyer.
