Broadcast-class Communications Ship

The Broadcast-class communications ship is part of an intended pair together with the DeepSpace-class sensor ship. It was introduced shortly after the release of the Imperator-class Star Destroyer. This vessel is designed as a fleet communications and coordinations ship, often acting as a relay with the base when the fleet is far away from sector command. However, the ship also has a large sensor array which can detect enemy activity long before the fleet is detected, giving it an important tactical advantage. Only the largest capital ships sport more powerful sensor arrays.

In addition to long range communications, the ship supports quick and clear transmissions within the fleet. Most of the interior is taken up by sensitive communications technology. While it sports some armament and onboard fighter craft for defence, the Broadcast-class is not meant to engage in hostile activities, and typically stays out of range of enemy ships.
