Deflector-class Star Destroyer

The Deflector-class Star Destroyer is a one-of-a-kind ship type developed in NIF laboratories. It came first into NIF service after the first Battle of Sullust. The hull is based on the Dominator-class Star Destroyer, but instead of fielding gravity wells, it has four massive shield generators coupled with advanced projector systems, in addition to the ships own shields. These shield generators are used to project a shield away from the Deflector, in the shape of for example a wall, a hemisphere, or a sphere. Typically these powerful shields are used to shield a small fleet from enemy fire. While the shields will then absorb massive enemy fire and not hold out very long, it gives first strike capability to the so protected fleet. Additionally, the shields can be used to block the enemy from escaping a battefield, or protect against starfighters. Multiple Deflectors can work together to form several shields, or a stronger one.
