Exuberant-class Star Destroyer

The Exuberant could be called the Allegiance Mk II, had it not been for its extensive modernization and inclusion of radically new technologies. The Allegiance was a destroyer-destroyer, while the Exuberant improves the original's versatility along with nearly ever other aspect. The main weapons batteries has a new layout, and midrange weaponry features a new 360 degree ball turret design which gives it unparallel firing angles. It can focus 90% of its firepower forward, 75% rearward or broadsides, 50% topside and 30% keelside. Overall it uses heavier turrets than previous designs, yet with much improved coverage, totalling 11% more firepower over the Allegiance-class. It replaces 20 missile launchers with 16 advanced octet launcers, which actually increases the number of effective launchers by 108 which in total adds as much firepower to the ship as its main batteries. The ion cannons, four dual barrels in six turrets, are located in the forward half of the side trenches. They cover 150 degrees fore and aftward on each side, 90 degrees top and keelside.

Due to a similar superstructure, Allegiance-class ships can be converted to Exuberant-class, although with significant cost involved. The Exuberant can be expected to take on a squadron of heavy cruisers and win. Compared to the Allegiance-class, it has 6% more energy weapons firepower, more than six times as many missiles, greater versatility, 10% more armour and 11% stronger shields, this without counting the Stardust Overdrive system. Overall, it is a sophisticated ship for a new age.
