Corellian Heavy Gunship | |
| Roughly twice as powerful as the small but heavily armed DP-20 class gunship, this vessel came into use around the Dark Empire Era and saw extensive use in the Imperial Starfleet. It is pretty much at the upper end of what one can concievably call a corvette in size and firepower. The heavy dual engines gives it almost as much thrust as smaller corvettes, but like the DP-20, the ship is too filled with equipment for any kind of hangar or other support vessels. Nearly as capable an anti-starfighter platform as its cousin which excels in this role, it has 20% less powerful but just as accurate laser cannons, much heavier albeit fewer turbolasers emplacements and missile launchers. While the DP-20 is foremost a screening vessel and a fleet raider and heavy ship harasser secondly, the heavy gunship turns those roles around, plus it has much better survivability than most corvettes with its stronger shields and armour. |
