Pursuit-class Monitor

This ship class is a Kuat Drive Yards monitor designed in the early days of the Empire. A monitor is a heavily armoured small ship with very heavy weaponry; the two turbolasers on the class are proportionally oversized for this two-engine frigate-sized vessel, matching ISD heavy turbolasers. The concept of the monitor was never very popular with the Empire, so it remained in small numbers and was used mainly for pirate control, operating alone, although it is designed to threaten cruisers and bombard planets with precision. Although it has enough firepower - and superior range - to quickly deal with enemy corvettes and frigates, it is generally not fast and maneouverable enough to track small ships. But the ships tractor beam, once locked on, can slow down an agile opponent sufficiently to expose it to the superior weaponry of the monitor. The main weakness of the vessel is that it can only fire its main weaponry in a forward arc. It also has somewhat lacking defences against starbombers, but the onboard TIE fighters (usually TIE Ad/x1) makes up for it. All specification statistics are estimated.
