The Sacheen-class was the first of the New Republic's New Class vessels. It is the smallest
ship in the New Class that is expected to operate independently. They have enough
turbolasers to threaten a cruiser, anti-starfighter defences, ion cannons for ship capture,
and a hangar with three* squadrons of short-range fighters, making it a very versatile ship,
although many Sacheens have yet to be assigned their fighter compliment. In a battegroup it
typically serves screening duty, though it is often used as escort for the Hajen-class Fleet
Tenders, or on patrol with fighter escort. The Sacheen was treated as a replacement for the
Corona-class frigates. Ref: CTD Squadrons contain 36 fighters.
