Sharpening of the Blade (Closed; see OOC note)

OOC: This thread is closed, unless you can think of a reason why you would be learning or teaching one of the skills being covered in this thread. :OOC

Eric awoke from his sleep, he had felt a bit lax on his training. He decided it was time to correct that oversight, as his Master was extremely busy as of late. Not to mention she was pretty much a Miraluka at the moment, as she had lost her eyes. Eric still could not believe she has been unable to heal it for this long, perhaps she did not want to be healed. But Eric did not want to stir the pot, as it was technically not his business at all. He was simply her student and that was that as far as she was concerned. Eric slipped into his black robe and began to stretch, as it was going to be a long day. He had planned to give himself some time in the holographic Force training room, as these techniques were getting more complex, while reading up on them was great and helped him get an insight. It was not like seeing the technique actually used, while it would be better to feel someone else in the Force do it. It was not exactly on the table at the moment, so he began training in any capacity he could take.

It had been quite a while since he was last actively in the training room, he spent a session with now Primarch Jacen Wesiri, and three sessions with his Master. He had a bit more of an unorthodox training session in the arboretum, with his Pittin. But it was time for him to stop putting off his training, as he could use the extra offensive skills in combat situations. He began to walk out his door to head down to the training rooms, as he had found out that with his newest clearance level that he had received access to holographic Force training now. The walk was brisk, as he did not want to waste time in the corridors. He walked up to a room that was available and palmed the door opened. He peered in and almost chuckled, as he remembered his embarrassing first time in here with his Master. His ability to control the Force then was so feeble he managed to pop off the button on her pants. But now, he had a better level of control, he just needed to refine that level further.

As he thought about it, he rubbed the back of his hand, that durasteel patch of skin was still there. A constant reminder of exerting himself in his weakest aspect while combining his primary, it was a simple mistake. But it cost him his skin, thankfully the rewards were worth it, as he thought back to his hidden compartment in his room with the crystals and Phrik inside it. He was a step away from complete, but now was not the time to unfocus at the task at hand. As he began to focus, he called up the holographic Force training simulator, and set it for learning to create a Force Web. An image appeared in front of him, and he watched intently. Drinking in all the visuals, he watched as at first a tiny strand of webbing came across the hologram’s hands at a diagonal. Then another strand from the other angle, than one from across hand to hand. Then piece by piece the outer rings were forming, once enough strands formed another strand bisected it down the middle. Then more rings tightened up the center portion, until it looked very much like a spider’s web.

Once the web was done, the holograph ejected the web from his hand and it expanded to cover a human sized webbing. Eric thought it was simple enough, but set the holograph to repeat it and viewed the process from another angle. As he wanted to see how it was expanded, as he could not feel the process through the Force as it was a hologram. If he could have someone do the technique live, he would be more able to feel out how the technique was achieved than improvising it to his visualization of it. Now that he saw it was simply achieved by rapidly expanding the web outwards layer by layer. It was a lot more thought provoking than other techniques he had learned, but he was up for the challenge.

Eric began to channel his Force energy between his hands, perhaps a good way to start this process, as it would give him a set of boundaries to work with. He began to envision strings of Force energy going between his index finger to the bottom of his palm on the other hand, and then vice versa. Then he made a string of Force woven energy run across from palm to palm, so far it all looked pretty good, but now was the hard part to create the weave to reinforce the outer strings. He began slowly adding each intricate piece of string of Force woven energy, but as he began to get a good rhythm going he noticed it was thicker than the webbing made by the hologram. Perhaps he had made an error with the level of concentration he was using, as perhaps he was expending way to much Force energy per strand thus causing them to get much thicker than necessary. He examined the webbing he made, while it was not quite like what was demonstrated his was complete. It did not fall apart during construction, nor was it awkwardly constructed. So he decided to attempt to throw the web and make it expand to become human sized.

Eric focused on the area he wanted to send it to be set up, and willed it forward. Then he began trying to focus on it to make it larger, then he thought about how thick the strings were and simply tried expanding it by stretching it. That’s when it went strange, the strands began to pull thin, but they got too thin and liquified into an oozing puddle of what looked like ink. Eric looked at it with bewilderment, perhaps that was why the hologram added strands in flight to extend it. Perhaps pulling it creates some unwanted process in it’s molecular structure, and the inky puddle is what ensues. Either way, the result was not the same. He needed to thin down the strands, to be like tinsel wire thick. That probably also helps the intended victim be less aware of the Force Web that was set to lay in wait. But it was time to try again, perhaps less time spent concentrating per strand would solve the thickness level of each one. So Eric focused again on the narrow space between his hands, and it was a little easier. The strands snapped into place a bit quicker, and were nowhere near as thick as they were before. The were not tinsel thin, but more like straw thin. An improvement, but more refinement will be needed to make it blend more naturally with the environment. Then Eric focused on a different spot in the room and released the Force Web in its direction.

This time instead of expanding it, by stretching, he expanded it just like in the hologram. He began quickly envisioning it expanding strand by strand along the outer perimeter. He just barely got the last piece in place when it stuck into place. It was a little loose, but nothing that practice could not take care of. Now with his first offensive move in place, Eric felt a bit more at ease. He could now have something of distance to help him with; besides his Projected Fighting technique. Albeit the Force Web was more helpful against Force users, though a Force Sensitive would be affected just as well. Eric began to call up the next technique he wanted to learn, Doppelganger. He could only imagine the possibilities if he could combine that technique with Projected Fighting.

The holographic simulation began; showing a different person this time, a woman. He watched as she stood there for a few moments, then something happened on her right side. It was subtle at first, and then a few extra finger appeared. Then a hand, an arm, and then her head began to expand. It was as if she was doing mitosis, except at an extremely rapid rate. Then as if it was nothing, a fully clothed copy of herself split from her and was standing to her right. It was completely unreal, that she just split herself into two. Eric was a bit puzzled, as it was not something he knew much about. Biology was not his strong suit, but the technique looked simply as if it was Manipulating your cells to copy yourself. So Eric began to focus on himself, he focused on his left hand. As he began focusing and willing his cells to replicate, his hand began to tingle. Then he saw he had another pinky finger on his left hand. Then his ringer finger was replicated between the other pinky and the one that he started off with having originally. It was slow at first, trying to imagine all the cells in his body being duplicated to make a matching copy of himself. He had managed to make his whole hand and wrist which stuck out of himself at a right angle, but then it was slowly being followed by an arm splitting from his arm. Then he felt a lot of tingles up his whole arm and his had a shoulder attached to his shoulder.

It was going a bit faster now, as he had gotten a good grasp on it. He treated it like a photocopy, he was smoothly transitioning out a copy of himself from himself. Eric’s head began to widen, as another head was trying to split away from his body. It was such a strange process, it was like electric tingles running all over his body at this point. He managed to separate his head from his original head, and it was going great so far. Minus the fact that it was so strange to feel himself unstick from himself. He was close done, as another leg was emerging from his left leg. Then he was done, he turned to view his handy work. It was perfect, minus some little flaws in the facial portion. He was even amazed that it had the durasteel skin on the back of its hand as well. It was certainly one hell of an accomplishment, as training from a hologram was far harder than his training sessions with his Master. Eric then walked over to the doppelganger and touched it. It felt real, it was real as far as he was concerned. But it was time to will it away, as he had to move onto the next lesson.

Eric opened up a tutorial on stun resistance, this would have great purpose for those infiltration missions. For when he needs to go deep in an enemy facility and gets captured on purpose, so they stun him thinking they did and bring him in past enough security to begin to get to work inside. But he was getting ahead of himself, he still needed to watch the tutorial and try to make it work. Eric clicked play on the stun tutorial, and watched intently. A man popped up in the holographic display, and hit a series of buttons and a turret dropped from the sealing. He assumed it was set to stun as this is what the exercise is about, and watched as it let loose a bolt on stun setting. It hit the man square in the chest and he stood like nothing happened. Eric sat a bit perplexed at this one, as again not being able to feel the aura of the person change in the Force was not helping him, he had to contemplate how best to replicate this.

Eric decided he had an idea, he would simply try to manipulate the energy to dissipate through him. But how he would do it was the question, so he decided it was just best to try it. Sometimes simply doing it was enough, but sometimes learning from your mistakes was better. Well so long as they do not kill you, and as this was set to stun so what harm could it do other than put him out for a few minutes. So Eric called up to prompt one turret to drop down and shot one bolt at Eric square in the chest. As he did so, Eric stared and awaited the turret he called to shoot himself with to pop out of the ceiling and fire. His precognition kicked in and he felt it coming and began to focus on changing the blasts structure to dissipate more seamlessly through him. But as he was attempting to do so, something unexpected happened when the blast hit him in the chest.

The blast of stun energy was indeed absorbed but instead of dissipating harmlessly through him, he was working like a capacitor. He was feeling warmer than normal, almost like he was electrically charged. He could feel everything in him tingle, and it was like he felt much stronger than he had ever before. He was feeling like a lightening rod, and it was as if his banks of power were overflowing. Eric decided to see if maybe he had made a mistake and instead of it passing through him it was just integrated in him in a form he could use. He was unaware of if this was even possible, as he had no run into any mention of such a phenomenon happening before in all his research of Force techniques to learn. Eric was feeling rather hot, and the tingling got a bit worse. It was almost as if he was too charged, so he decided to try something.

Eric decided perhaps he had reconfigured the power to a form he could use by accident, so he began to perform the Doppelganger technique he had recently learned. As Eric wanted to try something that was complex to see if he could get rid of this feeling by using up some of his Force energy he could access. As he began to focus upon splitting his cells, it felt simpler than normal, perhaps in part that he had just practiced the technique and he was getting to terms with it. But what he did not notice was that he had finished making the Doppelganger before he even knew it. Something was definitely wrong in the sense that it should not have felt that simple even though it was a just practiced technique. Eric felt far less tingly now that he had conjured up a Doppelganger, but he did not understand what had happened. The man in the video was just standing there as if nothing happened, no by product, no need to do anything else. But Eric just simply could not, he was sweaty and now he felt normal. But expending as much energy as he did he should not feel as energized as he did, so he decided to sift through the training center’s databank to see if he could find anything that would explain this.

As Eric began to search he ran into a blurb on Absorb Energy, also known as
Tutaminis. As Eric poured through the information regarding the skill it seemed very similar to what he had felt, as well as had done. While he was unsure as to how he had managed to have the ability at such an early age in his Force infancy, it did state that the ability was rare. Perhaps all the pain and anguish he had placed upon himself to learn and train had paid off, or perhaps it was something long lost in his family’s history. He could not be sure as he was not aware if anyone else in his family had been versed in the knowledge of the Force, nor did his parents show any signs of being aware that they knew what he had done when he was younger. This would certainly be an interesting talent to have fallen into, so Eric would carefully foster the ability. Albeit he was not even sure if it was something trainable, perhaps with each step he blossomed in the Force the more he would be able to absorb. But to what extent he was not even sure, as there was no limitations to the Force except what the user could access through mind and body. The quest for self discovery has still not yet ended, and neither had Eric’s quest for knowledge and power.

Eric called up the next holographic tutorial, and possibly the last he could benefit from for his level of understanding. As from his understanding of what he read about other techniques he could possibly master, that feeling someone else’s ebb and flow of the Force change would be more beneficial than watching a holographic display just magically do something. As there is no way to actually show Psychometry, as from what he understood it was reading an objects past connections. The tutorial began with a woman this time, and he watched again greedily drinking in all details. Then something unexpected happened, she began to cut her arm repeatedly with a vibrodagger. Eric watched as she had done so at least five or six cuts across her arm, nothing particularly deep. But enough to draw blood and let it streak across her arm, then the hologram zoomed in closer to just her arm. Then you could see the cut marks slowly begin to get smaller in length, and it got smaller and smaller. Then they were as good as gone, the camera then zoomed back out to show the woman in full and she took a damp clean rag out of a bucket near her and ran it across her arm smearing the blood away to show it was completely gone.

Then as if that was not enough of a demonstration, she took the vibrodagger and sliced her leg around the calf. The hologram zoomed in again to focus on the cuts on her calf and again they began to shrink very slowly. Then once again it was gone and she again smeared away the blood to show they were healed. Eric had a pretty good idea how to work this one though, as his approach to the Doppelganger technique uses mitosis, he figured he could heal himself by replicating his skin and muscle tissue to heal himself. Eric looked around and found nothing else in the room except what he brought, and then remembered he had his vibrosword with him. He reached back and removed it from his sheath, and made sure that the vibro function was off to not deepen the wounds. Then he took the vibrosword and made a decent sized cut across the largest length of his forearm on his left hand. As he made the slit across, the blood began to flow out. Eric relaxed his arm now that the cut had been completed and began to envision his cells splitting to repair the slice, cell by cell he began to split them to repair his forearm. His eyes were closed trying to hold on to the last image of his forearm in one flawless piece of art.

With each cell he replicated he imagined the slice slowly dissipating into nothing, as if he did not cut himself. He could feel his forearm ache less and less, until it had not stung at all. He just began to open his eyes to look at his handy work to see that blood was all over his forearm. He wiped the blood away on his robe, as they would be thrown into the refresher to be cleaned. He viewed his handy work and saw it was healed, it was a sigh of relief that he did not have to struggle with a technique. A sign that perhaps his efforts and training in the Force were helping him grasp the fundamentals better to twist them to his needs. It was a great step forward in his training, but his techniques would need refinement. Something that he was pressed on committing to, as he still had other work to be done. As his training was just starting, not to mention that doing these techniques once he acquired the last part of his saberstaff’s parts. It would be much harder having an extension of himself that required both hands; would change his whole perception of how he was able to use his powers. So for now perfection and refinement would wait till he was able to see how he fared with a saberstaff in his possession.
